Exploring the Meaning of Real Love

Love Letter

Real love is a concept that has been discussed and debated for centuries. It is often described as an intense feeling of deep affection, care, and commitment towards someone else. But what truly defines real love? How do we know when we have found it?

So grateful to better understand getting and protecting behaviors. Learn the difference between Imitation Love, or conditional love, and Real Love, or unconditional love. Unconditional love—Real Love—gives us the genuine happiness we all want. Love is an emotion based on which many poems, movies, and songs are made.

The Importance of Trust

Love is the absence of fear. You can put all emotions on a continuum. After that, it’s joy, happiness, contentment and satisfaction. On the opposite end of the continuum of love is fear. Other fear-based emotions include, hatred, insecurity, jealousy or greed. Love means saying goodbye to expectations.Sure, we all want people to behave the way we want them to.

Society’s incorrect relationship ideas are literally everywhere, and it’s no wonder that we fall victim to them. Some of what I’m talking about are ideas like soulmates, finding “the one,” the need to feel head-over-heels-in-love, and much more. Yes, people have a vague sense of what they want.

Trust is at the core of real love. When we trust someone completely, we are able to open up and be vulnerable with them. We believe in their intentions and feel secure in their presence. Without trust, it is difficult to build a strong and lasting connection with another person.

In the end, we may never have a full understanding of what love is, and part of that may be because love means different things to different people. I’m hoping that by sharing my own thoughts on authentic love, I can help you sort through your own views on what it means to love another person. I learned a great deal from the work of therapist Sheryl Paul and her relationship anxiety e-courses. One of the primary things she talks about is how society’s common messages about love, sex, and relationships are often incredibly warped.

In Sternberg’s theory of love, these two components do not always happen at the same time. Attachment is about feeling deeply connected to someone beyond physical lust and attraction. “It can be sexual and romantic or not (such as infant-bonding, close friendships, and loving family relationships),” she says. True love can look like any number of things from the outside — there’s not exactly a reliable formula that all of the best good relationships conform to. However, it can be consistently assumed that relationships with an element of real love are predicated on mutual understanding, patience, communication, empathy, and selflessness (to a healthy extent). However, lately, we seem to have lost the meaning of this emotion.

However, being in love will allow you to feel selfless. While dating, you might feel more guarded or set your boundaries strongly just because you’re still getting to know that person. When you’re in love, it’s possible you would do anything in your power to make your partner feel happy, comfortable and loved. What does love feel like when life pushes against your partnership?

Unconditional Support

Real love also involves providing unconditional support to our partner. This means being there for them through thick and thin, supporting them in their goals and dreams, and standing by them no matter what challenges may arise. It is about being a constant source of strength and encouragement.

Mutual Respect

Mutual respect is another key aspect of real love. It involves valuing and appreciating your partner for who they are, respecting their opinions and boundaries, and treating them with kindness and consideration. In a relationship built on mutual respect, both partners feel valued and understood.

Emotional Connection

An emotional connection is essential in real love. It is about being able to share your deepest thoughts, fears, and desires with your partner, and feeling heard and understood in return. When two people have a strong emotional connection, they are able to bond on a deeper level and form a lasting and meaningful relationship.

In conclusion, real love is a complex and multifaceted concept that involves trust, unconditional support, mutual respect, and emotional connection. It is about finding someone who accepts you for who you are, supports you in your endeavors, and makes you feel truly cherished. When you find real love, hold onto it tightly and nurture it with care and devotion.
